About Ideasproject

Welcome to IdeasProject!

IdeasProject is an online community for everybody from all around the world to brainstorm. It enables the two-way exchange of ideas between users and   developers around innovation powered by Nokia.

IdeasProject is founded on philosophy of democratized innovation and idea crowdsourcing. We believe that users are able to innovate products and services for themselves and that user-centered innovation offers great advantages over the manufacturer-centric innovation development systems that have been the mainstay of commerce  for hundreds of years. Users that innovate can develop exactly what they want, rather than relying on manufacturers to act as their, often very imperfect, agents. Moreover, individual users do not have to develop everything they need on their own: they can benefit from innovations developed and freely shared by others, which leads us to open innovation, another principle of IdeasProject. Read more about idea crowdsourcing from a white paper The Promise of Idea Crowdsourcing – Benefits, Contexts, Limitations written by researchers from Stanford University and Imperial College London.

Open innovation encourages companies to embrace ideas from outside to  strengthen the viability of its products in the market. Users like we and you are sharing ideas with different players like companies, developers, experts, NGO's and all who can help in realization of  ideas. By the same token, ideas developed within the company that are  not  being used should be shared freely with the public, e.g. with application developers and start-ups.

If you are interested to patent your ideas together with Nokia, with monetary compensation,  please visit www.inventwithnokia.nokia.com.

At IdeasProject, ideas do not expire or get "old." That’s because an idea may be presented before the market is ready, and user acceptance or   technology simply has to catch up. For these cases, IdeasProject plays the role of a treasury for ideas.

If you have an idea, don't be shy. Enter the spotlight, join the conversation and create together. Your idea might become the next Big Bet!

Best regards,

IdeasProject team:

FAQ

Who owns the idea?

You  own the ideas you have shared, as well as any other written contributions including comments. Similarly, other contributors own all  of their contributions.

However, open innovation is a  two-way street, which means that by participating you’re inviting all  who participate, including Nokia, to utilize your idea. You, in turn,  are invited to utilize, build on, and even contribute other ideas with your own. While this also means that others can use your idea without  further permission, Nokia has and will continue to recognice the best ideas. Please check the terms of service for further clarification.

Please check our FAQ page for more insight into the idea process and for support related queries.

Community Guidelines

  • Before submitting an idea, check to see if a similar one already exists. If so, then consider adding to it: IdeasProject offers a mechanism for letting you know if a similar idea   already exists. This helps minimize repetition on the site. If an idea   has multiple comments and a team of people working actively to improve   it, the chances of it being picked up will be higher.
  • Be respectful of others: The site will be moderated by the community and by the core IdeasProject team. Please don't spam or flame.
  • Be relevant: IdeasProject is dedicated to innovation and crowdsourcing. By drawing   on ideas to improve Nokia's products, services, processes, and identify   business opportunities.
  • Don't steal ideas: If you see an idea you would like to implement, please let the ideator and the entire community know! Consider providing compensation to the ideator and inviting him or her to participate in the implementation process. If a product or service is implemented, please report it here.
